CLEVELAND BROWN SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT/GENERAL MANAGER TO ADDRESS EASTERN SHORE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE EVENT Mobile Native, Phil Savage, to Speak at 2009 Business Academy Kick-Off Luncheon

Using Your Leadership and Positive Influence in Your Community is the title of a presentation by Phil Savage, senior vice president and general manager of the Cleveland Browns during the annual kick-off of the Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce 2009 Business Academy. The event takes place on Tuesday, January 20, 2009, 11:30 am until 1 pm at the Grand Hotel Marriott Resort, Golf Club and Spa.

The cost to attend will be $85 for members and $100 for potential members, which includes the Grand Hotel's Gulf Coast lunch buffet. In addition to hearing the presentation, a complete schedule of the Chamber's 2009 Business Academy offerings will be announced. The Business Academy is an initiative of the Blueprint for Tomorrow.

A Mobile native, Savage is an 18-year veteran of the NFL and is known throughout the NFL as one of the league's top talent evaluators. During Savage's tenure in Cleveland, the Browns have been one of the most active teams in terms of the trade market. He spent the first seven years of his career in the coaching ranks with the University of Alabama, UCLA and San Antonio Riders of the World League.

Savage attended Murphy High School in Mobile before playing football and baseball at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tenn. He earned a B.A. in English and was a three time All-Conference shortstop in baseball. He received a Master's degree in physical education for the University of Alabama in 1989.

Two of Savage's favorite football-related projects are Camp Savage and Winners Influence. In the summer of 2008 he conducted his 18th annual skills camp for high school quarterbacks and receivers in his hometown of Mobile, Ala. Over 1,300 athletes have participated over the years and many have continued their careers at the college level.
